- “Hmmm... Clever.”
- ―Hans Landa
Time bombs were explosive devices that were used by The Basterds during Operation Kino to blow up the Le Gamaar Cinema, in order to assassinate Adolf Hitler, Joseph Goebbels and most of the German High Command.
Overview[edit | edit source]
The bombs consist of 8 sticks of dynamite held together by a leather belt. The detonator consists of a clock-like device that looks like a dial indicator.
Three such bombs were successfully used during Operation Kino in assassinating the German High Command.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- In the second trailer of the film, we see an unknown person pressing the dial detonator, activating the bomb in what appears to be a dark room with its bare fingers, scene not present in the film. Since Aldo, the only member of the group that doesn't wear gloves, didn't have his bomb activated when it was removed from him by the security, the only other person that could and would have activated the detonator was Landa, when he placed Aldo's bomb under Hitler and Goebbels chair, as the auditorium was dark when that happened.
- In the scene where Landa places the bomb on the opera box floor and pushes it under Hitler's chair, we see that the dial detonator was not moving, meaning the bomb was not armed. However, in the very next scene, the dial is seen moving, even though to activate the detonator you have to press the arming button, as seen in the trailer.
