Til Schweiger at the Berlin premiere
“Seargent Hugo Stiglitz is a German, who hates Nazis, and he's killing them, and he's killing them with great pleasure and they get him and they put him in jail and they want to execute him and while the Basterds are in town, they hear about this German guy who's killing all those Nazis, they say "this guy seems to be cool, let's take him"! And they come rescuing me, and that's how Hugo Stiglitz becomes part of the Basterds.”
―Til Schweiger about his character[1]

Tilman Valentin "Til" Schweiger (German pronunciation: [ˈtɪlman ˈvaləntiːn ˈʃvaɪɡɐ]), born 19 December 1963, is a German actor, director and producer. He is one of Germany's most successful filmmakers. Since 1968, when the FFA started counting, no other German actor has drawn more people to the cinemas. He runs his own production company, Barefoot Films, in Berlin, which so far has produced 16 films.

He hasn't appeared in many big-budgeted Hollywood productions, and has often starred in TV series and low-budget films. His most famous big screen appearance was as the Nazi killing Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (2009).
