The fortified city from Sicily.
- “...fight my way through half of Sicily”
- ―Lt. Aldo Raine
Sicily (Italian: Sicilia [siˈtʃiːlja]) is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Along with surrounding minor islands, it constitutes an autonomous region of Italy, the Regione Siciliana (Sicilian Region).
In Inglourious Basterds[]
Lt. Aldo Raine mentioned that he fought in Sicily, before being tasked with creating The Basterds special unit.
Sicily is visible on Hitler's map from his conference hall in his lair, when he rants about The Basterds.
Frederick Zoller killed 300 enemy soldiers in a fortified city in Sicily, exploits turned into a film, Nation's Pride.
Trivia[]
- When lt. Aldo Raine introduces himself, he claims he took part in the invasion of Sicily. However, the map shown behind Adolf Hitler shows an incorrect representation of Axis forces/control for the time (showing North Africa and Sicily as still under Axis control).
- Set in "Sicily", the Nation's Pride was shot on Untermarkt and Obermarkt in the old town of Görlitz, about 64 km N-E of Bad Schandau, on the border with Poland.[1][2]
