Hitler mentions the D-Day

“Now, y'all might've heard rumors about the armada happening soon.”
―Lt. Aldo Raine

The Normandy landings, codenamed Operation Neptune, were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy, in Operation Overlord, during World War II. In planning, as for most Allied operations, the term D-Day was used for the day of the actual landing, which was dependent on final approval.

In Inglourious Basterds[]

Lt. Aldo Raine mentions that he and The Basterds will be leaving to France, before the "armada." In a flashback, Adolf Hitler, tells Goebbels about the Americans who have landed on the beach.

Trivia[]

  • Raine's speech and Hitler's mention of the American landings indicate that the last four chapters take place during the end half of 1944.
