Model 24 Grenade close-up

A close-up of the Model 24 Grenade.

The Model 24 Grenade (German: Model 24 Stielhandgranate) was the standard hand grenade of the German Army from the end of World War I until the end of World War II. The very distinctive appearance led to its being called a "stick grenade", or a "potato masher" in British Army slang.

In Inglourious BasterdsEdit

A Model 24 Stielhandgranate is seen near a dead German, in the woods, when Omar Ulmer scalps him.

When Aldo Raine tells Wilhelm that if he shoots him the rest of the Basterds will drop grenades in the tavern, he says that they're now in a Mexican standoff. It's unknown weather the grenades he's talking about are the Model 24 or others (Model 39 e.g.).
